Alodine

Alodine is an international brand name for Henkel Technologies' conversion, anodizing and functional coatings suitable for use on aluminum, magnesium and other non-ferrous alloys. These coatings provide improved corrosion protection and paint adhesion.

Chemical Conversion Coatings on Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys (such as Alodine) are formed by the reaction of chemical conversion materials with the surfaces of aluminum and aluminum alloys to boost corrosion resistance and provide a good basis for the subsequent application of paint. The military specification is MIL-DTL-5541, which superseded MIL-C-5541 in July 2006.
