When partial knuckles are involved in saw cuts, most often they are done as balanced ends where the partial end knuckles are the same size on both ends of the hinge.
Military specifications require balanced end knuckles where possible, and usually when the extra cost of getting a hinge to look better with a saw cut instead of a shear is being spent, why not go the little extra to make it symmetrical as well.
