Piano hinge
Piano hinge

Piano hinges are generally marked by how one hinge runs the length of the door, as opposed to butt hinges in which multiple hinges are placed at intervals.

Piano hinges are very common and come in a variety of thicknesses, knuckle sizes and lengths. They offer good strength, since there are many knuckles. When mounting, there are fewer issues of alignment, since there is only one hinge per door. They also cover the space between the door and frame to provide better security.
