Stop Hinges

More Operations : Stop Hinges

Stop Hinges are used to limit the rotation of a lid or door by use of interlocking notches in the knuckles.

However, since most stop hinges are custom products and subject to fairly high setup charges, designers should first investigate options such as lid supports or gas springs, or use of swage and offset to adjust the maximum open angle of a hinge.

However, if you really need the compactness of a stop hinge, you will need to specify:

  • inside or outside stop hinge (see illustrations)
  • angle where the hinge should stop (90° is shown here)
  • normal hinges dimensions: open width, thickness, pin dia, length
  • knuckle size is determined by available tools
