Hinges and Hardware 101 - How to Dimension Hole Placement
Are you trying to dimension where the holes are going to be our custom hinge? First, almost always, the hole dimensioning is taken to and from the center point of your hole. For a single hole, you need two dimensions. In the picture, Dimension A is from the end of the hinge perpendicular to the pin to the center of the hole. Dimension B will be the distance from the edge of the leaf across the pin to the center of the hole. If you have multiple holes, you can specify Dimension C is from the center of the first hole to the center of the next hole. If the hole spacing is going to be the same for each hole, it is common to call it out as center-to-center and just call out the number of times it occurs. For 7 holes, there would be 6 center-to-centers. For more assistance, see our custom hinge selection form to choose your hinge style, and then holes.
