Hinges and Hardware 101 - Is the Spring Latch Hinge a Left Hand or Right Hand Version?
Spring latch hinges come in two versions: A left hand version and a mirror image right hand version. But how can you be sure which is which? The easy way to tell is lay the hinge flat on the table with the pin side up and on the side of the leaf farthest from you. If the pin is pointing to your left, it's a left hand, and if it points to the right, it's a right hand. Don't just go with buying a left because someone says it's going to be on the left side of the door. You should always check how it will be mounted and purchase the correct version.
